Combined waste transport minimises CO2 emissions

In cooperation with ÖBB TSA and Brandl Transportlogistik, the Rail Cargo Group (RCG) transported the first tonnes of municipal waste for the Austrian waste management company Wastelog in 2023. The combination of rail and road transport shows the strength of multimodal logistics and minimises CO2 emissions, RCG said.

First, the municipal waste is trucked in Italy to Marcianise Maddaloni near Naples and from there carried in RCG wagons to the Combi Cargo Terminal St. Michael (CCT) in Styria (Austria).

TSA (Terminal Service Austria) finally transfers the goods to trucks for the last mile, which is organised by RCG and handled by Brandl Transportlogistik. (ben)
