Intermodal terminal opens in Hungary
Metrans, the intermodal subsidiary of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik (HHLA), has further strengthened its position in Central and Eastern Europe by opening a new rail hub terminal in Budapest. The foundation stone for the facility was laid in October 2015.
Budapest is the fourth hub terminal in the Metrans network, after Prague, Česká Třebová and Dunajska Streda. Overall, HHLA’s two rail subsidiaries Metrans and Polzug have 13 terminals at their disposal in the European hinterland. Five of them function as large hub terminals.
The Budapest terminal has a link to the road network, in addition to its connection to the railway network. (ben)
