New traction for cross-border transport in Iberia
The Swiss manufacturer Stadler has delivered six new Euro 4000 locomotives to Alpha Trains. Four of the units will be operated by Medway under a long-term leasing agreement.
The acquisition of the new locomotives builds on Alpha Trains’ market position as a rolling stock lessor in Spain and Portugal. The traction was built at Stadler's plant in Valencia (Spain).
The locomotives are equipped with the Spanish and Portuguese signalling systems and radio, enabling them to carry out cross-border freight haulages services between the two Iberian countries. The Euro 4000 is a tried and tested locomotive in the Iberian market. (ben)
