ADV celebrating 70 years in style
This evening (18 May 2017), the 70th anniversary of the German airports Association (ADV) is taking place in festive surroundings. To mark the event, the former Berlin Tempelhof airport will be lit up in ADV’s colours.
Aviation industry and media VIPs, Germany’s minister of transport Alexander Dobrindt, several state secretaries from the federation and individual states as well as over 100 members of the German parliament are participating in the celebration. All in all, the ADV has received over 2,200 applications.
What began in 1947 with around 500 employees and 200,000 passengers has developed into one of Germany’s most important industries. The country’s airports generated a turnover of EUR 5.5 billion, handled 223 million passengers and more than 4.6 million t of freight with a headcount of 180,000 in 2016. (ah)
