Facelift for main terminal in Central Europe
The European Union has awarded a grant to the Czechia-based railfreight operator AWT for modernizing the multimodal Paskov terminal.
By the end of 2020, a new rail link should be built, the siding station reconstructed, and the depot expanded to more than double its size, with the shipping and handling areas encompassing 71,000 sqm and the transport output growing to nearly 5,000 teu. The modifications to be carried out will speed up transit through stations on branches running to the terminal.
The Paskov terminal is in the vicinity of industrial zones on Czechia’s border with Poland and Slovakia. AWT is a member of the Poland-based PKP Cargo Group. (ben)
