Jacksonville short line railroad starts services
The Jacksonville port terminal railroad, part of the Watco group of companies, has begun services as Watco's 37th short line railroad. The 16 km line interchanges with the Norfolk Southern and the CSXT lines in Florida (USA), providing the customers with services from Monday to Friday.
Four clients are currently being served by rail at the port; commodities shipped include automobiles, intermodal containers, chemicals, farm and food products, as well as pulp and paper.
With 8,050 km of track and more than half a million carloads shipped annually, Watco Transportation Services is the largest privately owned short line operator in the USA. (ben)
