Second LNG carrier launched for Sinopec charter
The “Cesi Qingdao” — a new LNG carrier ordered by a joint venture between MOL, China Cosco Shipping Corporation and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) — was delivered at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding yard on 6 January.
It is the second vessel to serve the China FOB transportation project and will sail under a long-term charter to transport the liquid gas that Sinopec purchases from the Australia Pacific LNG project. Altogether, six LNG carriers will be built at Hudong for the project.
The first vessel, the “Cesi Gladstone”, was handed over at the end of last year (see ITJ Daily from 11/11/2016). The remaining four will be gradually delivered by 2018. (kd)
