Takeover at New Orleans port as expected
When Gary LaGrange, the long-serving president and CEO of the port of New Orleans LA, announced his retirement several months ago (see ITJ Daily of 3 May 2016), the facility’s board of commissioners chose Brandy D. Christian to succeed him as expected.
She took up her new role on 1 Janaury 2017, following a two-year tenure as the port’s COO. She is the first woman president and CEO in port Nola’s 120-year history and one of the few women port directors in the USA.
Christian’s credentials include broad maritime experience encompassing cargo and cruise operations. Prior to serving as COO in the port of New Orleans, she held leadership positions with the port of San Diego CA for 14 years, ending with the role of vice-president, strategy and business development.
