Transaero starts Tupolev cargo operations
Russian Transaero Airlines recently launched cargo transport services when its first cargo aircraf, a Tu-204-100C carrying 24 t of freight, performed its maiden commercial flight on the route Moscow-Novosibirsk-Yakutsk-Moscow. Transaero's first Tupolev Tu 204-100C, whose paintwork is completely different from the company's traditional livery, was acquired under a long-term, two-aircraft lease agreement between Transaero and Ilyushin Finance Co. Transaero chose the Tupolev with a view to enhancing its cargo transport operations. The acquisition of the freighter cements the airline's commitment to supporting Russia's aircraft manufacturing industry. Transaero plans to operate the freighter on both domestic and international routes. The delivery of the second plane under the order is scheduled for mid-May.
