Upgrading Kansas rail infrastructure
The US class I railroad Union Pacific (UP) is boosting safety and efficiency with an approximately UD 57 million infrastructure investment in Kansas this year. UP is funding a range of initiatives such as USD 43 million to maintain railroad track and USD 12 million to maintain bridges in the state.
Key projects include replacing 102,740 railroad ties and installing 53,137 t of rock ballast along the rail line between Topeka and Herington, as well as replacing 33,828 railroad ties and installing 327 t of rock ballast along the stretch of track between Junction City and Salina. (ben)
