A trio to promote DAC in Europe

Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH) want to modernise railfreight services and cooperate to introduce digital automatic coupling (DAC) at European level. The three ministers of transport recently signed a position paper to this effect, in which their countries commit to co-financing the project and rolling out the DAC system as quickly as possible.

The Swiss government recently decided to make CHF 180 million available for the conversion of Swiss rolling stock to DAC, which is intended to simplify and speed up railfreight traffic while saving costs. (ben)
