Riyadh Dry Port welcomes first Jubail train
The maiden train carried its load of 78 teu to Riyadh Dry Port along the Saudi Arabia railway line that connects Jubail Commercial Port with the East Train Network. The maximum capacity for a single trip on the railway is 140 teu.
This alternative enhances the connection between maritime and rail transport modes, increases the efficiency of logistics operations, and consolidates the kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub bridging three continents, the Saudi Ports Authority Mawani said.
Mawani launched the container train service between Jubail and Riyadh in partnership with the Muslim charity Zakat, the tax and customs authority Gazt, Saudi Arabia Railways SAR, and the Mediterranean Shipping Company MSC. (ben)
