Single-hull tankers can become double-hull units under new regime 05. Februar 2010

Reconditioning type N single-hull tankers (designed to transport liquid bulk such as diesel, oil and petrol) into type N double-hull tankers will remain possible in future, with certain reconstruction relief measures being maintained. Substantial portions of the relevant transitional regulations in the ADNR hazardous goods rules will be transferred to its successor volume ADN 2011, which will enter into force on 1 January 2011. The German inland shipping organisation (Bundesverband der Deutschen Binnenschiffahrt BDB) has let it be known that the exemplary safety levels that apply to the transportation of hazardous goods by inland barge, which are well-known from the ADNR book, will remain in ADN 2011 too.
