Total throughput in the Swiss inland ports on the River Rhine declined by 10.7% to 6.44 million t last year. Whilst container handling dropped by 12.6%, oil imports grew by 17% - thus preventing an even worse overall result. The amount of iron, steel and metal handled in the ports on the Rhine in 2009 collapsed by half in the period under review. |
