Deutsche Bahn (DB) was able to improve its results from operations (adjusted ebit) by 26.1% to EUR 846 million in H1/2010 in comparison with the same year-ago figure. Freight operations, above all, did better in the period under review. DB Schenker Logistics improves its revenues by 23.2% to EUR 6.746 billion. The number of shipments in the European land transport segment increased by 14.6% to 39.4 million. Maritime and airfreight business did even better. Ocean freight volumes grew by 150,000 standard containers to 800,100 teu transported, representing an increase of 23.1%. This brought volumes back to their pre-crisis level of 721,000 teu in 2008. Volumes in the airfreight segment grew even more strongly, increasing by 131,000 t to 586,800 t, a gain of 28.6%. This still leaves it behind the 630,000 t attained in 2008. |
