Lifting power for Antwerp
Feb 25, 2026 at 9:59 AMEight big cats rescued from inadequate conditions in Honduras have found a new home in the United States, as recently announced by DHL Global Forwarding. The relocation of the animals, including five tigers and three lions, was coordinated by DHL Global Forwarding and supported by DHL Express. According to the company, this initiative represents the first international rescue operation for big cats from Honduras and was carried out under continuous veterinary care.
The animals lived in Honduras under conditions that did not meet their species-specific needs, according to DHL. Despite the care they received, long-term species-appropriate housing would not have been possible. After a period of recovery and preparation, the big cats were transported from San Pedro Sula to certified animal welfare facilities in the USA, where they will receive specialized care for the rest of their lives.
Celia Chinchilla, Country Manager at DHL Global Forwarding Honduras, emphasizes the importance of this action: “Helping these animals find a safe, species-appropriate home shows that logistics can do much more than transport goods – it can help improve lives.”
