Jumbo plans to order HLCV in China

Jumbo Shipping is banking on the global offshore energy industry. The Dutch company recently signed a letter of intent (LoI) with China Merchants Industry Holdings (CMIH) for the technical plan of a new DP2 heavylift crane vessel (HLCV).

The special ship, estimated to be delivered in Q1/2020, will be powered by dual fuel engines and will have the ability to run on natural gas (LNG). The 185 m long and 36 m wide vessel will be equipped with two offshore mast cranes with a lifting capacity of 2,200 and 400 t respectively.

Michael Kahn, managing director of Jumbo says: "Despite the current offshore climate, we are committing to this industry in the long term. Signing the LoI is a key milestone for Jumbo’s offshore division." (kd)
