16 new east-west connections

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is expanding its network: the Austrian railfreight operator has launched no fewer than 16 new connections between Central Europe and Central Asia via the Central Corridor.

With regular connections and transit times of around 30 days, the trains offer an attractive alternative to sea freight. 20-foot and 40-foot containers are transported on the route.

Another advantage is that the trains pass through non-sanctioned countries, so there is no need to take out transport insurance. Customers can also avoid currently congested transhipment ports, sea terminals and hinterland terminals, RCG said. (ben)
