200 wagons to join Lithuanian rail fleet


The new acquisition will strengthen the transport capacities of LTG Cargo. According to its published international public tender, the Lithuanian carrier will use the new 200 open-top wagons to ship bulk and other weather-resistant cargo, with most of them carrying dolomite and granite crushed stone.

 

With the new wagons, LTG Cargo  to transport an additional 0.7 million t of freight per year. Demand in the construction industry is increasing as Rail Baltica’s infrastructure projects make further progress. The new wagons will be used on the 1,520 mm gauge, which is operated in Lithuania and other Baltic countries. They are set to enter service in the country in 2025. (ben)
