A shipping platform to vanish

Trade Lens’ days are over. The initiative launched by A.P. Moller-Maersk and its tech partner IBM will be withdrawn from the market.

“Trade Lens was founded on the bold vision to make a leap in global supply chain digitalisation as an open and neutral industry platform. Unfortunately, while we developed a viable platform, the need for full global industry collaboration hasn’t been achieved," commented Rotem Hershko, head of business platforms at Maersk.

Hershko confirmed that Trade Lens has not reached the level of commercial viability necessary to continue work and meet the financial expectations as an independent business. The platform is now set to go offline by the end of Q1/2023. Maersk emphasised that all parties involved will ensure that customers are attended to without disruptions to their businesses.

The Trade Lens platform was announced in 2018 and jointly developed by IBM and GTD Solution, a division of Maersk, as a blockchain-enabled shipping solution. (sh)
