ACT Research reports October trailer orders spike

Preliminary data from ACT Research indicates a strong rise in net trailer orders in October, with 17,100 units booked, marking a 51% month-on-month increase from September's 11,300 units. When seasonally adjusted, the order tally is approximately 12,600 units. This figure remains 3% higher than October 2024, with year-to-date orders reaching 138,300 units – 17% above the same period last year. October typically represents one of the industry's strongest order months, as fleets prepare for the upcoming year.

Jennifer McNealy of ACT Research notes that, despite recent gains, ongoing economic concerns, weak carrier profitability and regulatory uncertainties could temper future demand. Nevertheless, pent-up demand is building and deferred capital expenditure is likely to boost trailer purchases in the coming months. ACT's monthly trailer industry report provides detailed market data, including backlogs, build plans, inventories and shipments, serving as a key resource for industry stakeholders and investors.
