Airlink resumes South Africa–Madagascar air link

After having been suspended for almost three years, the South African carrier Airlink is restarting scheduled services between Johannesburg and Antananarivo (photo) from today, 30 January 2023.

CEO and managing director Rodger Foster: "As the designated South African carrier to Madagascar, Airlink welcomes the Madagascar government’s lifting of the prohibition, which allows us to re-establish these air services that are vitally important economic, trade and tourism connections between the two countries."

Initially served once per week, increasing to three flights weekly from 14 February 2023, with the intention of re-instating daily services, Johannesburg is well positioned for Madagascar-based businesses to access destinations within Southern Africa, and together with airline partners, in the Americas and Europe.
