Another newbuild for Yamal LNG project
A naming ceremony for an ice-breaker/LNG carrier, ordered jointly by MOL and China Cosco Shipping, was recently held at the South Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering.
The 200 m long newbuild, which has a cargo capacity of 172'000 cbm, was named the "Vladimir Vize", in honour of the Russian Arctic explorer and oceanologist, by Irina Ershova of PAO Novatek, the major shareholder in the Yamal LNG project.
The "Vladimir Vize" is sister to the “Vladimir Rusanov”, which went into service at the end of March 2018; a third such vessel is currently being built. The ships will transport LNG for the Yamal LNG project, under a long-term charter contract.
On another front, the four conventional LNG Carriers destined for the Yamal LNG project should be completed between 2019 and 2020. A second train at the Yamal LNG plant started to operate in August 2018. (kd)
