Antwerp records mixed results for Q1/2013
The port of Antwerp (Belgium) handled nearly 47 million t of freight in Q1/2013. This is an increase of 1.4% compared with the same period in 2012. The volume of liquid bulk in particular showed strong growth, with petroleum derivatives being the main driving force here. However, the volume of containers declined over the past quarter to 2.13 million teu, a drop of 2.8% vis-a-vis the same period last year, when the first three months of the year were particular strong with a throughput of 2.2 million teu.
