Avinor advances hydrogen infrastructure

Avinor has partnered with Norconsult to conduct a feasibility study on developing hydrogen storage, refuelling and distribution infrastructure at Norwegian airports. This initiative aims to build knowledge and prepare for testing solutions for ground vehicles and aircraft, aligning with future decarbonisation goals. The study, beginning in September 2025 and lasting six months, will cover technical, regulatory, logistical, safety and cost considerations, laying the groundwork for hydrogen testing from 2027.

Additionally, Avinor has issued a request for information (RFI) to attract industry partners and innovators interested in contributing to the development and testing of hydrogen infrastructure. The focus initially appears to be on vehicles and refuelling systems, with plans to extend to aircraft in the future, supporting Norway's broader goals of sustainable aviation and environmentally friendly airport operations.
