Belgian ports unite for security initiatives

Belgian ports, both seaports and inland ports, are launching the groundbreaking Port 2 Port Security Platform, marking a first in Europe. This initiative, which involves collaboration with the National Drug Commission, aims to promote knowledge sharing and implement joint security measures. By doing so, Belgium solidifies its role as a leader in integrated port security, focusing on critical issues such as drug trafficking, cyber threats and the improper use of drones.

Federal Minister of Justice and North Sea, Annelies Verlinden, has officially endorsed this platform, highlighting the strategic and operational cooperation among all ports and waterways in the country. The initiative is set to enhance the safety and security of Belgian ports, creating a unified approach to tackling prevalent security challenges and fostering a collaborative environment for enhanced maritime security.
