Big contracts for hundreds of trains per week

Two customers have prolonged their contracts with SBB Cargo. Swiss Post has extended its framework agreement with the Swiss railfreight operator by another four years. SBB Cargo will run around 60 trains per day to convey letters and parcels across the country up to the end of 2022.

The German rail transport provider, DB Cargo, will also continue to rely on SBB Cargo for its alpine transit traffic. The recently signed contract extension regulates cross-border services from Mannheim and Singen (Germany), or Basel to Chiasso (Switzerland) until the end of 2022. The Swiss rail company will run around 130 freight trains per week through the new Gotthard tunnel on behalf of DB Cargo. (ben)
