Block train for zinc-lead concentrate launched
Transcontainer has assembled and dispatched the first block train with zinc-lead concentrate to China. The train from the Noyon-Tologoy ore deposit in Zabaikalskiy Krai consists of 62 40-foot containers. The Russian carrier will now put the connection into regular sevice and dispatch the train twice a month. Previously, this type of cargo was transported in open cars.
Reserves of the Noyon-Tologoy ore deposit are 9 million t, proven reserves are more than 7 million t. It is expected to produce 812,700 t of zinc and 624,600 t of lead concentrate per annum when operating at total capacity. Container transportation of polymetallic ore is one of new strategic development areas of TransContainer's branch at Zabaikalskaya Railway, the company said. (ben)
