Boeing investing in drone-delivery startup
The US airframe manufacturer Boeing announced that Boeing HorizonX Ventures has led a USD 16 million, series A investment in Matternet, a firm pioneering safe, on-demand delivery operations with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in urban environments. In 2017 Matternet, based in Menlo Park CA (USA), became the world's first company authorised to carry out UAV operations over densely-populated areas in Switzerland.
Matternet founder and CEO Andreas Raptopoulos (on the right, together with Oliver Evans, the firm's head of global business development) said that "we'll work with Boeing as we expand Matternet's US and global operations, to make next-generation aerial logistics networks a reality and transform our everyday lives."
