Bundling forces in Cologne-Bonn area

Technisches Hilfswerk (THW) and the operator of Cologne/Bonn airport (CGN) have signed a cooperation agreement for future emergency operations. With this partnership, the German federal agency based in Bonn is further expanding its logistics capacities.

The next time the German government receives an international request for help and sends the THW abroad with one of its rapid response units – as it did in August 2020 when it sent the Seeba (rapid response unit for rescue abroad) to Beirut – the materials required will travel from Hilden, where the government's voluntary emergency response organisation has inaugurated a new logistics centre (42,000 sqm with a capacity to store 8,500 europallets) to the relevant area via CGN.
