Candy bombers will return to Berlin in June 2019

In June 2019, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the end of the 1948/1949 Berlin airlift, the world’s largest humanitarian aid & relief operation to date, 40 of about 160 "candy bombers" still flying today will come back to Germany and Berlin - for what will no doubt be the very last time.

From all over the globe - including 20 from the US, one from South Africa and maybe one from Australia - DC-3/C-47, DC-4/C-54 and JU-52 aircraft will flock to the German capital.

The return of the candy bombers is organised by the registered association “Förderverein Luftbrücke Berlin 70 e.V.” and will incorporate public airport days, school- and youth projects. For the very first time in history the Berlin Airlift will be shown to and experienced by today’s generation. (ah)
