Cannabis found in an inspection

On 15 June US Customs and Border Protection officers at the 'Peace Bridge' crossing in Buffalo discovered 78 pounds of marijuana hidden in a rental truck. The driver, a 43-year-old US citizen, claimed the vehicle was empty after mistakenly entering Canada.

A secondary inspection revealed three boxes containing 60 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana valued at approximately USD 230,000. The driver was taken into custody and handed over to Buffalo Police to face felony charges. Area port director Gaetano Cordone credited officer performance and training in preventing the narcotics from entering the USA.
