Changing of the guard lined up for Bertschi

The Bertschi Group, a Swiss logistics services provider with global activities, is grooming the third generation of the family to take charge of strategically managing the group.

Hans-Jörg Bertschi, the group’s majority shareholder and the executive chairman of its board of directors, is making space for his nephews Markus, Beat and Jörg Berner.

Markus Berner, chief information officer since 2021 and on the group’s management board, is now vice-chairman of the board of the Bertschi Holding. He’ll succeed Hans-Jörg Bertschi as chairman in due course. Beat Berner, the head of HR and marketing since 2019, will join the board of the holding next year. Jörg Berner, project manager since 2016 and a member of the board, recently took additional charge as chairman of the board of Elite Digital Logistics (EDL), a Bertschi freight management services provider subsidiary for the chemical industry, headquartered in Singapore and independently managed.

The operational management of the group, with CEO Jan Arnet for the asset-based business of the Bertschi Group and CEO Ole Sander for EDL, remains unchanged.

Chairman Hans-Jörg Bertschi (67) will remain on the board after the handover. Director Brigitta Berner-Bertschi (69), a former group management board member, is retiring next year.

The Bertschi Group, with 3,240 employees worldwide, including 700 in Switzerland, will remain an independent family business. The company is active in 100 countries and generated sales worth around 1 billion CHF in 2024. (gy)
