China–Georgia blocktrain launched
Maersk’s intercontinental rail product portfolio is further expanding, thanks the recent introduction of a blocktrain connecting China and Georgia – the first such product developed specifically for the needs of imports into Georgia.
The train, which focuses on ocean shipping products, inaugurating the new rail connection from Xi’an (Shaanxi province, China) arrived in Tbilisi (Georgia) recently; it compliments Maersk’s current coverage of the Caucasian republics of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
In addition to providing another connection between Asia and Europe, further expansion of the product will also strengthen Georgia’s role in the development of the new Silk Road, Maersk said. (ben)
