Chinese protective masks arrive in Europe

The first major delivery with millions of masks and other protective equipment has arrived at the German seaport of Rostock via the "Eurasia rail-sea link".

The vessel carried four containers with as many as 7.4 million protective masks for Germany and six more containers with urgently needed protective equipment for Italy. Transport and logistics are managed jointly by DB Cargo and DB Schenker.

In just twelve days, the masks and protective equipment were transported by train over a distance of 10,000 km from X'ian in China to Kaliningrad in Russia, where the containers were dispatched by sea to Rostock. From Rostock, the goods will be carried by train to Duisburg (Germany) and Verona (Italy) before being trucked to their final destination. (ben)
