CIT operational in Port d’Abidjan

Early in November, the Côte d'Ivoire Terminal (CIT) officially launched the commercial operations of its new container terminal in the port of Abidjan. The first vessel to arrive was the ‘CMA CGM Rossini’ (267 m long and 40 m wide), which brought in 5,770 containers.

The hub’s second terminal, run by APM Terminals came on stream after the completion of test runs in October. The new facility, covering around 370,000, has a 1,100 m quay with a 16 m draught and modern equipment, enabling it to handle 1.5 million teu a year.

Its opening will increase trade between Côte d'Ivoire and the region and strengthen the Côte d'Ivoire–Burkina Faso–Mali corridor. (sh)
