CLA brings fresh horse blood to Europe
The British maindeck cargo airline Cargologicair (CLA) used two B747F flights to convey elite racehorses from the USA to Europe at the end of October. The flights from Atlanta GA to London Stansted, and from Chicago IL to Shannon (Ireland) took place after CLA was awarded a US department of agriculture (USDA) licence.
Onboard the first flight to London, CLA ensured the safe passage of two high value warmblood mares for its customer, Horse America. The horses will participate in the UK’s famous Tattersalls' Newmarket Sales of thoroughbred bloodstock in December.
Six days later, the second CLA flight from Chicago safely transported 80 flat and hurdles racehorses, each with an average weight of 500 kg, on behalf of livestock air charter specialist Intradco Global. (ah)
