Damen Shiprepair Brest achieves milestone

Damen Shiprepair Brest has celebrated the completion of its fiftieth cruise ship project since joining the Damen Shipyards Group in 2012, highlighting its growing role in advancing sustainable maritime practices. Positioned near the English Channel and equipped with large-scale facilities, the yard has become a leader in delivering environmentally responsible refits that extend vessel lifespans and improve efficiency. Recent work includes upgrades to major cruise ships such as Disney Fantasy and its sister vessel Disney Dream, involving enhanced propulsion systems, biocide-free hull coatings, and tailored bow structures designed to reduce fuel use and emissions.

This success reflects Damen’s wider ambition to become the world’s most sustainable and connected maritime solutions provider. Supported by a skilled workforce, strong industry partnerships – including a long-term collaboration with Meyer RE  and a global network, the company continues to invest in innovation, digitalisation and circular materials. With more than ninety-five years of experience, 35 shipyards worldwide and around 12,500 employees, Damen remains committed to delivering high-quality maritime solutions that benefit both customers and the environment, reinforcing its leadership in the transition towards greener shipping.
