DHL expands US healthcare services

DHL Supply Chain has acquired a provider of final-mile delivery and specialised healthcare transportation, SDS Rx, to strengthen its life sciences and healthcare portfolio, as the company recently reported.

The move expands DHLs health logistics with services for pharmacies. It is the company’s second healthcare acquisition this year. SDS Rx operates from around 200 sites in the USA, providing last-mile deliveries that now complement DHL’s network.

"The life sciences and healthcare sector is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 11% through to 2030. Special pharmacy requirements already account for approximately 50% of total prescription drug spending in the USA," said Mark Kunar (pictured left), CEO of DHL Supply Chain in North America. He added that the acquisition enhances DHL’s capacity to meet rising demand for specialised healthcare logistics while supporting resilient and connected supply chains in the sector. (js)
