DHL in the land of plenty


Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPW) has reported its preliminary results for Q2/2021 and raised its outlook for the current financial year and for 2023. Operating profit (ebit) more than doubled in the second quarter compared to the previous year and amounted to almost EUR 2.01 billion (Q2/2020: EUR 912 million). Accordingly, the group raised its ebit outlook for 2021 to more than EUR 7 billion (so far: EUR 6.7 billion).

 

The group granted a one-time corona bonus of around EUR 200 million to approximately 550,000 employees worldwide, executives excluded.

 

Details of the results in Q2/2021: while ebit in the important express segment reached around EUR 1.2 billion (Q2/2020: EUR 565 million), ebit in global forwarding, freight was around EUR 315 million (Q2/2020: EUR 190 million). Ebit in the supply chain division came in at around EUR 195 million /Q2/2020: EUR 33 million).

 

The overall winner in terms of relative growth was e-commerce solutions, recording an ebit of around EUR 115 million (Q2/2020: EUR 1 million). Comprehensive results for Q2 and H1/2021 will be published on 5 August 2021. (sh)
