DHL invests in sustainable logistics centre

DHL Supply Chain has opened a new, climate-neutral logistics centre in Halle (Saale) to bolster its presence at the strategic hub of Leipzig/Halle. The state-of-the-art facility covers 34,000 sqm of warehousing space, features 27 loading bays and caters to up to 55,000 pallet positions, making it ideal for both national and international direct deliveries, including worldwide next-day shipping.

Built to DGNB Gold standards, the centre is equipped with photovoltaic panels and energy-efficient LED lighting to promote sustainable logistics solutions. It currently employs over 450 staff, with a further 100 jobs planned upon full expansion. Thanks to excellent connectivity via road, rail and Leipzig/Halle airport, DHL can swiftly meet increasing demands across various sectors, offering services including hazardous goods and battery logistics, automated solutions and added-value services. Katrin Hölter emphasises that the centre will support sustainable growth and that customers can benefit from efficient operations, available space and a prime location.
