DNV GL changing president and CEO
Erik van der Noordaa has resigned as president and CEO of the newly merged Norwegian/German classification society DNV GL group. The merger between DNV and GL was approved by the authorities and became operational from 12 September onwards. The new company DNV GL has around 17,000 employees and the 2012 turnover of DNV and GL amounted to EUR 2.5 billion.
The Dutch national Erik van der Noordaa was appointed chairman of the executive board of Germanischer Lloyd SE on 1 December 2010. He was also responsible for maritime services. Van der Noordaa, a graduate in naval architecture and mechanical engineering, was previously employed by the Netherlands-based Damen shipyard in senior management positions (nau).
