DP World to ink agreement with JNPT for second terminal

Dubai-based port operator DP World is scheduled to sign the concession agreement for building its second container terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port (Nhava Sheva) near Mumbai (India) today (20 June). The project comprises a new 330 m long berth with an annual capacity to handle 800,000 teu. The concession was awarded to DP World in last October and normally the winning bidder is expected to sign the agreement within 30 days. However, environmental issues and DP World’s decision to bring its India business under a separate holding company delayed the formality.
