DPB and European Loc Pool in new partnership

DPB is strengthening its rail freight capabilities by signing a full-service leasing agreement for two 'EuroDual' hybrid locomotives from European Loc Pool (ELP). The decision was driven by the EuroDual’s flexibility and strong performance, with the ability to operate in both diesel and electric modes and deliver significantly higher tractive power than conventional locomotives. DPB highlights that this versatility will allow the company to expand into previously uneconomic routes and enhance competitiveness on demanding services. Both partners expressed confidence in the cooperation, emphasising customer-focused service and the growing importance of efficient, sustainable rail transport. The locomotives are scheduled to enter service in mid-2026 and will be deployed on national and international routes.

DPB Rail Infra Service GmbH, part of the DPB Group in Austria, provides a wide range of rail logistics and operational services including freight transport, shunting, safety technology and railway personnel training. ELP, based in Switzerland, specialises in leasing advanced six-axle hybrid locomotives such as the EuroDual and Euro9000, offering high power output, ETCS-equipped systems and operation across multiple European corridors. Since 2018, ELP has supplied modern hybrid locomotives to more than 30 operators in five countries, supporting sustainable and efficient rail operations.
