E-AWDs to handle mountain deliveries
Austrian Post has introduced 100 all-wheel-drive (AWD) electric vehicles for deliveries in mountainous regions, investing over EUR 4 million.
The move extends the company’s CO₂-free delivery goal to areas where AWDs are essential for access and winter reliability.
The chosen model, the 'Maxus eDeliver 7 4x4', offers an 88 kWh battery with around 200 km range, 6.7 m³ cargo space and features climate control, parking sensors, rear camera and driver assistance systems.
These EVs will gradually replace diesel AWD vans in depots already equipped with charging infrastructure. Parcel and logistics board member Peter Umundum (pictured) said the rollout ensures year-round service and strengthens the firm’s sustainable logistics approach. (js)
