E-truck saves 58 t of CO2


Bakker Belgium has added the first e-truck to its fleet. The new Volvo truck will deliver around 1,800,000 kg of fruit and vegetables between Bakker’s distribution centre in Boom and Delhaize's hub in Zellik every year.

 

The companies have also invested in charging infrastructure at both locations. In Boom, this infrastructure is connected to 2,500 solar panels on the 15,000 sqm roof of the warehouse.

 

This guarantees a steady supply of green energy, which is also used for the electric cooling of trailers on site, after they have been loaded. With the e-vehicle, Bakker expects to save 58 t of CO2-emissions annually. (be
