Ecology and AI take centre stage

In this year’s Young Forwarders' Competition, the German Freight Forwarding & Logistics Association issued a call for ecological and/or economical customer or industry solutions - and expectations were not disappointed.

Winner Anja Kohler (second from right, formerly Gebrüder Weiss) based her concept on the use of waste heat from data centres in logistics companies.

The runner-up was Eva-Maria Petschnigg (far left, Österreichische Post, Vienna) with a proposal for the use of robots as an answer to the labour shortage in the CEP industry. Third place went to Helene Holubar (second from right) and Danilo Cecco (far right, both Gebrüder Weiss) with a solution for optimised parking space distribution using artificial intelligence.

The winners received EUR 3,000, EUR  2,000 and EUR 1,000, respectively. The awards were presented by the association’s president, Alexander Friesz (centre). (cj)
