Emirates and Lodd partner on drone delivery
Emirates SkyCargo and Lodd Autonomous have signed an MoU at the Dubai airshow to advance drone-powered logistics solutions, focusing on VTOL aircraft integration across Emirates' global network. The collaboration will include feasibility studies, regulatory engagement and live demonstrations until 2027, following the successful test flight of Lodd's autonomous hybrid freight aircraft, Hili, capable of carrying 250 kg over 700 km.
This partnership supports the UAE's goal to become a top-five global logistics hub by innovating airfreight, reducing delivery times and expanding reach through drone technology. Emirates' extensive network and focus on innovation, such as its new Emirates courier express service, position it well to lead future logistics developments. Lodd's autonomous aircraft aligns with the UAE's broader vision of leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance safety, sustainability and efficiency in logistics, bolstered by national support through the Advanced Technology Research Council.
