Emirates paves way for Peru maindeck service

At the beginning of this month, 50 Peruvian companies travelled to the Expo Peru Dubai in the UAE and established important contacts. Now, the impending launch of a freight service between Dubai and Lima has been announced. Edgar Vásquez Vela, Peru’s minister for foreign trade and tourism, has confirmed that Emirates has concluded an agreement to this effect with the government of this South American country.

The cooperation will focus particularly on the export of perishable goods. Luis Torres Paz, CEO of the trade development agency Promperú, points out that Dubai imports 85% of its required food supply: "For our 'super foods' this service will provide a great opportunity to open up more sales markets." According to Promperú the value of Peruvian exports into the UAE will exceed USD 1 billion this year. (ah)
