Forwarder reactivates industrial rail track

Denkinger, a logistics services provider based in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, is shifting more goods from road to rail. The logistics company bought an area with a railway siding for this purpose.

However, before the 1.2 km long siding with three switches and two sidings could be put to use, a number of adjustments and repairs had to be made. To speed up the process, Denkinger carried out this work on its own initiative with the support of DB Cargo.

For reactivation, the rail infrastructure had to be rehabilitated and the terrain equipped with the technology necessary for transhipping cargo. The railway bridge over the Danube had to be checked by experts for stability and axle load. The siding was recently put into operation. (ben)
